California Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Van Into Newburgh Building

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Newburgh Police officers charged a 72-year-old California man with driving while intoxicated after they found his van crashed into a building on Broadway Sunday night.

The driver of the van, Jack Shaw, told officers he left Billy Joe's Rib Works on Front Street and was attempting to get to Hurricane Grill and Wings. Shaw was driving with a BAC of .11 percent without a valid license. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, police said. 

Shaw is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
